Brass dial shelf clock, ca. 1784-1799.

Mahogany shelf clock. The top section has a molded cornice with two brass spire finials, a bell-shaped opening with scalloped edge, triangular cutouts in the tympanum, ogee molding at the bottom and applied brass elements at the bottom. Bottom section with molded top, and applied fluted pilasters at the front corners. Stepped base with ogee moldings, a shaped pendant drop and supported on straight bracket feet. Engraved brass dial with roman hour numerals and arabic minute numerals, engraved ornament in the spandrels, a moon phase dial in the lunette, and engraved ornament in the lunette arch. Inside the chapter ring there a calendar aperture, engraved foliate ornament and the inscription "Seril Dodge." Eight day movement.
